To drink or not to drink -that is the Question (Kuwait City)

Hi and welcome guys, new to the city!

I've been told by various Kuwaity friends that several Embassies offer their citizens the opportunity to purchase Alcohol for private consumption. Is this true? If so whats the procedures? I know of ticketed parties at the British Embassy on Friday's which was a surprise to hear. Us British will find anyway to let our hair down!
