UK Driver's license non-transferability (Kuwait City)

Hello all

It seems the usual ad hoc bureaucrats have prevailed again in Kuwait. I spent the last few weeks trying to get my UK license legalized etc, only to find out from my company's HR that the transport ministry is no longer allowing UK licenses to be transferred to Kuwait licenses - apparently, this has come into effect in the last 2 weeks.

Not sure if I should be believing my HR frankly - they also seem to make things up as they go along.

Is anyone facing similar issues? Any way of expediting the normal application process? Approaching 6 months in Kuwait and still no driver's license seems a bit of a joke really!
