American School (Lagos)

My family and I would be relocating to Lagos on a job assignment in December. We would be living in Ikoyi--specifically banana Island. My kids would be attending the american international school behind the Protected content estate in VI. Does anyone have experience on commuting distance from there to the american international school in VI? I understand the traffic is horrible. Please share your experience and provide tips on how to handle the situation.
