Banking Question (Lagos)

I am a few months away from living and working in Nigeria. Would appreciate knowing how others who are paid in Naira send money from Nigeria to the USA. I have been cautioned not to use the banking system and was warned yesterday not to use Western Union. Any suggestion will be appreciated! I look forward to my time in Nigeria and meeting many of you.
