Diesel generators vs Gas generators (Lagos)

Hello Friends,
I had a very interesting chat with a friend yesterday. It appears that there are gas generators on sale in Nigeria. From what he told me, they are way cheaper than diesel generators (5 times cheaper to operate and purchasing the raw material i.e Gas). It uses either Natural gas or Propane (cooking gas)..yes..cooking gas!! for industrial, commercial or domestic uses. Amazing! I'm getting one! I just wanted to share this with everyone. Diesel is quite expensive these days, that's why i think any other cheaper alternative would be a welcome development. However it goes without saying that constant power supply still is the best solution.
