It is with our deepest regret and condolences that we wish to inform you of the below.

Alexandre "Alex" Roberto Black Born 21 September Protected content , Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil Died 16 January Protected content , Lausanne, Switzerland of pneumonia Single, survived by parents Bob Black and Norma Matheus Black, brother Eduardo, sister Mariana Rogerino, brother-in-law Devin; Grandfather Lourenço Matheus; Aunt and Uncles Cida, Lourenço Jr., Carlos and Marcelo; Cousins Lourenço Netto , Gustav, Felipe and Natalia. A Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA). A Graduate of Lawrence University with a Master's degree from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California.

Served in the United States Army as a Civil Affairs Linguist. Alex was fluent in Portuguese, English, German, Russian, and Spanish and had working proficiency in French, Arabic and Farsi. Lived in Switzerland for the past 8 years working for SICPA Security Systems in Lausanne and previously for Syngenta Crop Protection in Basel.

Alex lived, studied and worked in 5 countries. He loved traveling having visited over 22 countries exploring their history, culture and cuisine; he would daily read periodicals from many more. He was a student of history.

Private services to be held when his remains are returned to the USA.
