Driving in Lima?

Hello, i am really curious about how you find driving in Lima as expats?
My husband is ducht and he looks very "gringo", and i am very afraid about he drives in Lima.
We probably will go to live in Lima for a couple of years and he doesn't like the idee to take taxi everytime he will need to move...for me it is not probleem at all.
But with the last news i read about Lia i get very worry. Is that dangerous?, depends of the car of area or what ???..
