water, cooking etc... (Lima)

Hey everyone, I just arrived in Lima last night! I'm renting an apartment in Miraflores starting tomorrow! It's a fairly nice apartment building but the guy I'm renting from said if I eat any raw fruits or vegetables I should wash them in Kilol. I'm guessing it's a bunch of chemicals? I don't do well with chemicals, everything has to be natural for me. Anyone have any tips? I'm going to be cooking a lot! I will eat mostly cooked food but would be nice to eat some raw fruit occasionally, and also would be nice to know that the dishes I eat off of are clean even though I'm washing them in the local water... Not sure how to navigate all this! As far as brushing my teeth, of course I'll use bottled water... but cooking? Any advice would be super appreciated! Thanks everyone!!! :)
