Basic info for moving to Linz

Hi,

I am a PhD student in Spain, and for two weeks I should move from Palma de Mallorca to Linz to start my new job at the University.
I would like to know more about Johannes Kepler University, (how far is from the city centre), what are the living costs in Linz (student residence or shared flat) transport cost and some general things.. If somebody is in a mood to give me some tip from personal experience I would like to hear more about Linz.
Looking forward to start new journey in Austria.
