Being part of Lisbon's autumn energy

Hi dear IN Lisbon friends,

I am visiting Lisbon next month for 10 days participating in the International Body Psychotherapy Congress.
I've never been there before and I don't know many things about Lisbon city, culture, daily life and Portugal.

How I could spend my time discovering the beauty of this lovely city, not as a tourist but get involved with the locals?
What places/sights/spectacles/areas, should I have to visit?

Any good tip is more than welcome!
