Non- UK car and Non-UK insurance issues, ..... (London)

Hi All, I moved to UK (Reading) from Portugal about a month ago and I brought my car. We've by law a grace period of 6 months to decide whether we import it or ship it back. Thought I just discovered that my insurance will only lasts for a couple of months when we're abroad. Dis anyone had this problem and managed to fix to find an insurance company (UK or elsewhere) that can cover my extra 4 months period? Is anyone aware of car removal company that could ship back my car to Portugal at a reasonable amount? many thanks for your hints asap.
