Visiting London

Hello all
I am coming down to London next Sunday for a week for business. I will be staying in Hendon area, and wondering how accessible it is for me to venture out on my own to do some sightseeing, etc. Any recommendations? I've been to London as a tourist 3x before so it's not my first time but I'd love any advice that's out there. (Pubs, shopping, places to see, etc) I'm an internations member in my hometown of Calgary.
