Help!! Trying to get a Marketing job in LA (Los Angeles)

Hi everyone.
I am wanting to move to LA permanently from Brisbane Queensland, but I don't know where to begin. I really don't want to leave Queensland until I have a full time position.

Is the job marketing lacking and would a company be willing to hire someone like myself? I have been applying for a positions on job sites and there seems to heap of positions avaliable, but I think as I's m still Australia I'm not getting a look in. Am I wasting my time?

I haven't be able to obtain a marketing position in Queensland due to the limited avaliablity of positions.
