Vacationing in L.A early September any tips? (Los Angeles)

Hi, I am vacationing in L.A )staying first part in Venice and second half in Hollywood (near Vine st.). I have been there before so I have done all the sights but what I am looking for is tips from local experts to where buy food, where to eat and any nice bars where to go for a drink. Since I am traveling alone the bar suggestions I would like to be nice kind where a lady can go by herself to do some people watching : ). Of course if anyone wants to join me more than welcome. I am there between 2nd and 8th of September. Any tips are much appreciated.
