Visiting LA, tips and recommendations (Los Angeles)

Hello LA,
I am going to travel to LA to volunteer at the special Olympics after finishing my volunteering in the Pan Am games this very month. Both are huge events, my experience in Canada is great so far.
It won't be my first time in LA, in fact I have been there last year, but it wasn't in the summer. what do you recommend for activities and other tips that made your visit unique in the US especially LA? .
