desinfection of fruits and vegetables (Luanda)

Hi experienced expats,
I have been advised to disinfect our fruits and vegetables, I have been looking online for methods but only see chlorine as an used option. Do you have any other tips? So far we haven´t been doing it and haven´t been sick, but I have had the tip from multiple people now.
