OFFICIAL PRESENTATION, at 18.30

We are delighted to announce the creation of the first international delegation of the FAI (Fondo Italiano Ambiente - Italian Enviroment Fund). On the 29th November FAI SWISS, a Foundation created under Swiss law, and headquartered in Lugano, will come into being. The purpose of the Foundation is to develop and consolidate the ties between Italian and Swiss culture. This project will be wide-ranging and foreward-looking, and will offer Switzerland and Italy a new, solid cultural point of reference at an international level.
The FAI organisation, inspired by Elena Croce - grand daughter of the famous Italian philosopher, has been active in Italy since Protected content . Thanks to the efforts of a large and capillary network of volunteers, the main social mission of the organisation is the protection of the Italian countryside, the preservation of its cultural assets and the promotion of Italian culture in general.
The presence of the FAI in Switzerland aims not only to increase knowledge and appreciation of Italian cultural assets at an international level, as part of humanity’s universal heritage, but also to contribute towards the promotion of Swiss culture in Italy. The cultural exchange between the two countries will form the fulcrum of FAI SWISS’s activities and provide the basic philosophy of all the new organisation’s activities and cultural offerings.
In order to carry out this vision, the Foundation will be supported by the collaboration with an important protagonist of Swiss culture, the Museo delle Culture di Lugano, which will provide the headquarters of FAI SWISS, under an agreement set up with the City of Lugano.
This programme also provides for the transfer of Villa Fogazzaro at Oria di Valsolda, the property of FAI Italy, to the FAI SWISS Foundation of Lugano.
This cultural project,, which has been ongoing in Lugano for over a year, has already been appreciated by the public. In view of this success, this activity will now be formalised thanks to the setting up the the FAI SWISS Foundation and will provide a permanent crossroad for cultural exchange, reflection and protection of the territory.
