After hosting a successful Revolution festival in August, Barefeet Theatre is back with a bang presenting a series of family friendly events to make your Christmas filled with fun, laughter, spectacle and a lot of Christmas Cheer.
Following 5 years of enchanting Christmas performances, Barefeet will present 14 performances of their festive offering ‘The Never Ending Story’. The play will be hosted from the 1st of December till the 5th, at Lusaka Playhouse.
This year we invited a special guest director from the USA, Brooke Ciardelli. Together with Barefeet she has created an action packed story which promises illusion, beautiful music, crazy costumes, spectacle and daring choreography.
‘ I’ve met the Barefeet Team when they were on tour in the USA and at HIFA in Zimbabwe. They are an absolutely amazing and talented team and I am happy to have a chance to create this beautiful show with them. This should not be missed!’
The Never Ending Story tells the story of Bastian, a boy who needs a friend. He finds a world that needs a hero and takes off on an adventure of a lifetime. Fantastica, a magical land create by the dreams and imagination of human kind, is now threatened with destruction by The Nothing, a shapeless, evil force. Shy, awkward Bastian is amazed to discover that he has become a character in the mysterious book he is reading. The Childlike Empress tells Bastian that only through his imagination and the power of wishing can he alone restore Fantastica. But will Bastian have the courage to accept this quest and face unknown danger in battle against the forces of darkness? At the last moment and with the help of his new friends, Bastian finds courage he never knew he had, bravery he had only dreamed of and the power of hope.
