No event in Luxembourg attracts more visitors than the annual Schueberfouer funfair on the Glacis.

Originally a shepherd’s market it is now a family day out, with parents guarding their wallets as kids go crazy for rides, games and all sorts of colourful sugary treats. For others it is a chance to meet in a group for a few drinks and then face tests of courage in front of friends who dare each other to go on the most hair-raising rides. And, it is also a place to try out local foods such as Gebackener (fried) fish and chips and the ubiquitous Grompererkichelcher (fried potato cakes).

The Fouer is open from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. every day (with extended opening until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays). Family Day, during which rides are half price, falls on Wednesday August 29.

Rides are also half price between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on September 11, the final day of the fair when a fireworks display marks the official end of Schueberfouer Protected content .
