Ski Areas (Lyon)

Dear Members, We are looking for French ski area recommendations for weekend and school vacation skiing. I have done a lot of online research but there are so many places in this part of France that it's hard to know the best place to visit. We are a family of 4 (including 2 children Protected content 10 yrs. old) that are strong skiers who have skied all over the US and Canada. Ideally we would like to visit resorts that are family friendly but with challenging skiing, have English speaking instructors for kids ski school and near a village with shopping and restaurants. We are looking to stay at nice hotels vs. renting a chalet.
