Join us for the Writers’ Getaway (Maastricht)

This is the perfect opportunity to remove yourself from your daily routine, spend a weekend in a serene location, and join lovers of language seeking to improve their writing.

You'll have time to work on your writing, go for walks in the park just across the road, talk to your fellow participants about writing—or a bit of everything.

We will gather at mealtimes (included in the cost) and for four workshops:
→ Your opening scene — How to grab the reader's attention
→ Finding and developing great characters
→ Three-dimensional writing — using all your senses
→ Getting the dialogue right

At each workshop, we’ll share some of your writing and think about how to make the most out of your work. All critiquing is constructive and positive.

Over the course of the weekend, we’ll schedule each participant for an individual session with one of the coaches.

After the evening meal on Friday and Saturday, we’ll unwind together with a drink and a chat. (But feel free to take the time for yourself, if you prefer.)

WHERE: Siddhartha Ontmoetingscentrum in Tremelo (Belgium) close to Leuven – a 45-minute drive from Brussels and an hour from Maastricht.

THE COACHES
Colette Victor is originally from Pretoria, South Africa. She is a published author and trained creative writing teacher. Colette is a community worker assisting people from a range of ethnic backgrounds. To date, she has published two novels, "Head over Heart" (Chicken House Publishers) and "What to do with lobsters in a place like Klippiesfontein" (Cargo Publishing) and is currently working on her third.

Steve Schwartz was born in New York City (USA). He completed his studies in Journalism at Indiana University and worked for CBS News and as a foreign correspondent for National Public Radio based in Washington, DC. Steve has been living in the Netherlands since Protected content has combined writing and business communication training for years. He is also a passionate musician.

COST
There are fifteen rooms. (For those who would like to share, some rooms have two beds.) The cost for the entire weekend — including meals — is Protected content . You can register by making a 75 euro deposit. The outstanding amount is due by 18 August. No refunds will be possible after 2 September.
