Is my NIE number still valid in Madrid?

Hi everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help with my query? I intend on working in Madrid (arriving at the end of May). Some years ago I bought a property in Almeria and was issued with an NIE number then Protected content this number still valid? Or will I have to apply for a new one? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
