How to Pursue Your Passion and Find Your Crowd

Pursuing a passion is something we would all like to do, especially when abroad, as this is typically a time when you are already reinventing oneself at least to some degree. However, it can be harder than it sounds. From not knowing what your passion is to worrying about what could go wrong, there are many challenges that arise.

Similarly, moving to new places means making new friends — this can be a daunting experience, and sometimes we don’t know where we fit in. However, finding your crowd doesn’t have to be impossible.

The following tips will help you get on the way to pursuing your passion and finding your crowd.

Find Out What Your Passion Is

Figuring out what your passion is is the first step in pursuing it. While it might take some time, there are many things that can help. Think back to when you were a child and what you loved to do most. Our childhood passions often carry on with us into our adult life, and so this might be a good place to start. Or, you may have had a passion as a child that got lost along the way. Dig up these old passions and see if you still enjoy them as much.

Another way to find out what your passion might be is to look at your skills. If there is something you are good at and think you would love to pursue, then this might be a good indication. Perhaps you’re a good singer and would love to join a choir or theater group.

Life experience will also help with revealing what you love doing, so don’t fret if you are struggling at first. Give it some time, and you will eventually figure out what your passion is.

Talk to Others with Similar Passions

Talking to other people who have a similar passion is a great way to get started on pursuing yours. It is also a great way to find your crowd. There is so much to find out from talking to others, from information on practicalities to insights in how they feel, now that they have pursued their passion.

Talk to as many people as you can to prepare yourself as much as possible. The more insights you have, the more chances you have of actually pursuing what you love doing. If dancing is your passion, you might like to find others who have taken it up and ask them what it entailed. They can recommend a good studio and give you information on costs and the level of commitment needed.

These people who can help you pursue your passion might also turn out to be your crowd. We often gravitate towards people who like some of the things we do, so why not make some new friends at the same time as you pursue your passion!

Get Connected

There are many networks online that connect people of similar interests, with InterNations being just one example. Use resources like this to join groups and attend events that interest you to meet like-minded people.

This is a great way to branch out, too! Don’t worry about being a newbie, because chances are you won’t be the only one attending a specific event for the first time. This is a sure way to find your crowd and see where you feel happiest — even if it is a bit nerve wracking at first!

While getting to know new people and making new friends, you can also be inspired to get back into what you love. After all, there are many groups out there for all types of interests, allowing you to find your crowd and pursue your passion at the same time.

Put Your Worries Aside and Just Go for It

Forget about all the worries and the what if’s and just go for it. We often get so caught up in worrying about all the negatives that we don’t even try to push ourselves. But while it is never a bad idea to think ahead about potential challenges and plan for them, this should not be stopping you from pursuing your passion and finding your crowd.

Get into a positive mindset and push yourself to try new things or rediscover old passions. Pushing yourself will mean you can follow your dreams and perhaps make lifelong friends. If you don’t, you may spend your life wondering what it might have been like.

Both pursuing your passion and finding your crowd can be hard but be courageous! If you step outside of your comfort zone and follow these steps, you will be on the road to success in no time!
