June at a Glance: InterNations Celebrates with Family and Friends

InterNations members around the world have been making the most of a packed schedule in June, celebrating with family and friends in various Locations. The calendar has also been dominated by the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which ran from 17 May to 14 June this year. Let’s have a look at the best of this month’s events.

Taking a Look Back: InterNations Members Get Together at Ramadan

To commence their Ramadan celebrations, the InterNations Ambassadors in Abuja invited the global minds of Nigeria to come together at Uncle D’s Restaurant. Ajeet Batsa, Mercy Nzegwu and Henry Goin organized an Iftar dinner for all guests, the evening meal where Muslims break their fast.

In Dubai, the Arabic Food Fans Group convened for an open buffet and another Ramadan Iftar gathering. Led by Consul Khaled Omega, our members enjoyed each other’s company at this special time of the year. The activity was held at the Lebanese restaurant Mashawi.

A stone’s throw away in Abu Dhabi, the DinnerNations Group came together to experience Ramadan with an authentic Iftar. InterNations Consul Jivka Dimitrova invited members to spend the precious moments of Ramadan together, and the group enjoyed a lavish five-star Iftar buffet with traditional Arabic juices at The Dining Room, located in the Burj Al Sarab hotel.

In Doha, the Mystery Cheap Eats Group broke their fast together with an evening meal and a beautiful marina view of The Pearl. The Arabesque Restaurant provided the setting, and offered traditional and regional Middle Eastern dishes, as well as Qatari dishes with a modern twist.

Global Celebrations with InterNations

To those of our members not observing Ramadan, our other monthly events provided the perfect opportunity to get together to create special memories of their own.

On Friday, 1 June, our community in Los Angeles got together for a networking event to the theme of The Great Gatsby. Our members journeyed back in time to 1922, to the Gatsby mansion, and rocked their best 20’s attire. Everyone had a fantastic time, making new connections and taking part in the festivities. At the end of the night, a prize was awarded to the best dressed attendee, and there was also a photo booth where our members could capture special moments with new friends.

InterNations Brussels got together on Thursday, 7 June, to make the most of the warm weather in the Belgian capital. The Summer Sangria Terrace Party was held at the Callens Café, organized and hosted by InterNations Ambassador Munira Aminova. Early birds were treated to a welcome drink and our members made the most of a packed event and a fine evening of networking, with lots of Sangria on the agenda.

A few miles away from Brussels, the Antwerp Community held a get-together on Saturday, 16 June, at the Antwerp Harbour View Bar. Our Ambassadors Elke Roothans and Alain Kerkhofs organized a fantastic night for members to enjoy music, a free drink, and a finger food buffet.

And, last but not least, the InterNations Jakarta held their June Event at the BATS bar, popular among expatriates across the city. Members’ entry tickets included one welcome drink voucher and one special snack voucher. They also enjoyed the renowned live music, courtesy of the BATS' local and international bands.
