Visa for China (Malmoe)

Question for any Brits...... Has anyone had to apply for a visa for China whilst living outside the UK? I was advised to send my application to the visa centre in London but they have just informed me that I need to have a UK address for them to process my application. I did previously contact the centre in Copenhagen but they told me I could not apply there because I am not Danish..... I guess my third point of call should be to contact the centre in Stockholm....... Can't find anything on the web anywhere that advises how to do this......... Does anyone have experience of getting a visa for China as a British citizen not living in the UK? I am running out if time before my business trip so am pretty desperate to figure out what I have to do.......
