Best place to live in Malta ?

Hi everyone ,
I am a 19 yr old girl planning to move to malta with her bf in hopes of teaching english and catching some sun :) , I just wanted to know your opinion on where you think the best place to live in Malta is. I like the thought of living near a sandy beach but its not the end of the world if i can't. I was looking at St Pauls Bay , marsascala , marsaxlokk and Valetta as they seem to be a bit more maltese like than the likes of sliema and st julians which i have heard is just like a tourist resort all year round . Is this true ? I'd appreciate your advice as I haven't a clue where to move and don't want to be bored either.
