Moving to Malta with dog

Hello, my boyfriend and I are planning to move from Ireland to Malta with our dog. Does anybody have any experience with moving from Ireland to Malta with a pet? It's a small dog (she weighs 7 kg) and could fly with us in the cabin. However, as there are no direct flights from Dublin to Malta (except with Ryanair which does not accept animals), I am afraid it would be a too long journey for her (it would take around 10 hours) and she would have a too long layover at the airport without the possibility to go to the toilet etc..Going to Malta by car would be unfortunately not an option. It's the first time for us and we have no idea where to start. Any experience and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
