The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is an ultra luxury cruise yacht line is incorporated in Malta with operating branches in North America and elsewhere in Europe. Our small but growing team is preparing for all functions necessary to market and operate the company. For our Malta office, we are now looking to hire a Senior Accountant.

Job Summary

Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and performing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles under IFRS. The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying this knowledge to all phases of the monthly closing process, analyzing financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements and applying appropriate accounting controls.

Essential Functions
•Prepare complete, accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with our monthly, quarterly and annual reporting schedule.
•Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
•Prepare monthly account reconciliations, review intercompany transactions and perform account variance analyses.
•Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and errors and communicate issues to the Finance Director and Controller in a timely manner.
•Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with IFRS, Company policy and other accepted policies and procedures to assure consistency in accounting practices.
•Assist in the preparation of VAT returns in Malta and liaising with the team in Spain.
•Provide accounting and budgeting support to management teams and staff in Spain and Malta.
•Interact with external auditor (Big 4 firm in Malta) and assist in the year-end tax and financial audits.
•Perform other job related functions as assigned.


Bachelors in Accounting; Chartered Accountant/CPA preferred


5+ years in accounting, experience in shipping or cruise lines preferred

•Knowledge of IFRS
•Highly detailed and organized
•Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
•Experience working with multinational entities, foreign currencies and inter-company transactions
•Understanding of European cross-border VAT rules and application
•Knowledge of ERP software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, etc.)
•Well-developed communication and presentation skills
•Ability to work independently in Malta and report to Controller and Finance Director in Florida, USA
