Bicycling in Makati? (Manila)

I posted a thread before about my frustrations with finding accommodation. It seems to me that San Lorenzo village and Bel Air are the places closest to Makati with proper houses andsome sort of garden. Many places advertise the fact that "you can walk to Makati". Is this really true? How about bicycling? Or is it a death sentence? Just want to make sure my husband looks in right area for a house when he arrives. He also has the company car but obviously it would be great to keep the commuting time to a minimum. Thanks!!!
