Cycling in & around Manila

Hi team, I am moving to Manila from Australia early next year and I am trying to work out if I should bring my road bike. I plan to rent a condo in Makati. Having spent a couple of days up there earlier in the year I have seen the roads can be pretty crazy. Is there anyone out there that actually cycles on the roads? Is early morning ok? Most of the forums I have read look like they have a number of people that don't actually ride suggesting it is a bad idea…which is not surprising given the state of traffic in peak hour! Cyclists / triathletes out there, I would be very interested to hear your side of the story / recommendations!
