Tips: travelling in Vietnam end of december (Manila)

Sorry but I don't know where to post this question (there should be a "Travel" category !).
We want to go to Vietnam end of December (with our baby+my parents). Anyone has been there at this period of the year ?
Where should we go? We were thinking about renting a house for a week and do things everyday from there...
