How to learn more about challenges in Morocco (Marrakech)

I am working to bring a group of 16 high school students to Marrakech in March Protected content learn more about culture, religion, joys, and challenges facing people who live in Marrakech as well as the Atlas Mountain region.

I am seeking suggestions for how to intact with locals in more authentic ways than just through tourism. Most of our group will only speak English. We are interested in some volunteering and or interviews if there is a way to do this responsibly without being disruptive. I was in Morocco last March to gain some insight and loved my experience. Looking for suggestions for creating experiences that are beyond what students might be able to do on a trip/tour with their parents. Any suggestions for who we might meet with and or for partnering visiting with a school or a school visit would also be very helpful. Open to your ideas and suggestions,
