Visiting Mauritius for the first time (Mascarene Islands)

Hi All,
I will be visiting Mauritius for the first time in the middle of December this year and will be there for a few weeks.
Even though I will be living with a friend who lives in the southeast (Blue Bay), and have several other friends joining me at different times of the trip, it would be lovely to connect with some like-minded locals/expats who share similar interests as me.
