Dual Citizenship - USA/Colombia (Medellin)

Hello everybody,

I am moving to Medellin in about a month and am interested in obtaining dual citizenship. Since I was born in Colombia and later adopted, I believe I am eligible. However, I do have a few questions about the process.

First, can anyone speak to the advantages/disadvantages of dual citizenship? I'm hoping to start a career in Colombia and am especially interested in tax responsibilities for wages earned in Colombia.

And second, I was hoping to look into this and apply in Colombia. Would there be any advantage to begin and possibly even finish the process here in the US?
