Moving to Melbourne in October

Hi All,
We are a family of 3 including a pre -schooler age 5 and will be moving to Melbourne from Botswana in October. My spouse and kid would be returning back in a week-10 days time if its enough to sort the to do list as PR holders,kindly advise places safe to rent as i will be on my own, sorting the Drivers license, which bank to bank with etc...any/all help is welcome and so much appreciated. How is the days care there, is it affordable incase I decide to keep my baby with me whilst job hunting etc.
