Sugesstion on moving furniture (Melbourne)

Hi All,
I am migrating to Australia in May ...I am moving from UAE to Australia.. Is it a good idea to cargo my furniture and other household stuff or it is it wise to buy them new when I am there..

Any suggestions on what to cargo and what should NOT be taken via cargo ?
