Climbing the Iztaccihuatl (Mexico City)

Hello everyone, I am planning to climb the Izta with a couple of friends and I would love to hear some advice from people who have already done this. I am mostly interested in tips on what to take with me, what the chances are to get lost without a guide and what the camping spots are like...Climbing mid-April, would there still be snow and is it very cold at night?
Also, if there is anyone interested to join, we are planning this for the weekend of Protected content April, a two-day hike with one night spent at the camp site at Protected content . The more the merrier!
