Moving to Interlomas....Advice please. (Mexico City)

My husband, children and I are relocating to the Interlomas area next year. His job is in Interlomas and we are in the process of apartment/house hunting. My question is: If we live in Lomas Country, will we be able to walk to shopping, groceries, etc...? I will not have a car and want to live somewhere with lots to do within walking distance. Any thoughts? We contemplated moving to the Zona Esmeralda area but without a car, I think I would feel isolated.
