Santa Fe or Polanco living (Mexico City)

I am currently deciding between staying in Santa Fe (close to work) or Polanco (closer to the action of the city). I really only have these choices as I have no car and my work organises a pick up from Polanco to Santa Fe in the mornings.
So my question is: Is the commute from Polanco to Santa Fe really that bad? (the taxi leaves around 7.15am)? As a young person who moved to the city not knowing many people, Santa Fe really isn't the most happening place at night or weekends.
