Taking the kids to Mexico City or Guadalajara?

G'Day all
I live with my wife and two children in San Jose del Cabo (BCS). We are looking to branch out in Mexico seeing we have lived here for almost 5 years......(i know very lame that we have not travvelled here more) , so we would like to do a trip to check out some other areas, we were thinking Protected content , our children are 3 and 5 any thoughts? are there some fun things in both cities or is one better to visit than the other? We are thinking January, anyway appreciate any ideas (some cooler weather would be nice).
