Canada to Florida Move (Miami)

Hi I am Canadian and interested in moving to Florida any Expat Canadians that have done this or have information on US regulations about living in the US. Would like to buy or rent a place some where in Florida not sure were yet, I have some info but conflicting information from many different sources, would like to talk to someone with experiences.
Any information would be appreciated.
