Visiting Miami - curiosity & safety

Hola everybody, and first of all a very cool summer to all

Any places or areas in Miami I should really avoid going to or simply crossing?

I'll be visiting Miami between 24th and 28th of August, staying in SB. I'm the curious type and if i get the chance I really tend to discover the less glitzy and more authentic sides of places. My tastes go to hispanic/latino environments (I speak Spanish too)

But this time I'm travelling with a young lady and a teen boy. Can't expose them.
