American moving to Milan next week

Ciao tutti!

My name is Tia and I'll be flying out to Milan next weekend (I'm going to pick up my visa on Monday) and I'd like to know what types of things I should pack with me from home that they aren't readily available in Milan. Are there any Americans living there that can provide some assistance, please?

Also, can anyone recommend a good health insurance provider? I have to obtain one within 8 days of my arrival and I'm not sure what company to go with.
