CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR GLOBAL IMAGES OF U.S WOMEN

The Know Art Project, in conjunction with the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and
Martha Gault Art Society of Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA, USA) announces Global Images of U.S. Women. For this unique inquiry into how U.S. women are perceived and interpreted transnationally, women artists from around the world (excluding U.S. citizens) are invited to interpret how they see women of the United States. Artists of every level, background and age are encouraged to submit work. This is a non-juried exhibit and submission is free. The exhibit guidelines require all art be executed on a standard 4”x6” (11cmx16cm) postcard and received by September 1, Protected content . Works may be in any medium as long as pieces remain 2-dimensional and fitted onto a postcard. All submissions will become part of the permanent col-lection of works of the Women’s and Gender Studies program of Slippery Rock University and possibly used for publication. No art will be returned to the artist.

The exhibit runs September Protected content , Protected content the Robert M. Smith Student Center. On September 15th, there will be an opening reception and discussion pertaining to the exhibit. As well, a panel discussion will take place on September 16th that explores the intersections of art, politics, and gender theory.
