Help! Spending Ferragosto in Milan

First time in Milan, and it'll be Ferragosto... tickets bought, no going back =(
So,,, no to shopping (that's fine) but what can I do/see in Milan on that day? I would like to go to mass in an impressive cathedral, and see touristy things, walk, etc. Suggestions please? Thanks so much in advance!
