Residence Permit for EU citizen. (Milan)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me. I am a UK regular citizen and I came 7 days ago to Milan to live with my girlfriend (she is Italian and has a house here). I am trying to get information of the steps necessary to obtain a residence permit. I am also unemployed and looking for work. If anyone could possibly give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
