residence permit/permesso di soggiorno (Milan)

Dear all, my husband (Turkish) and I (Italian) will be moving to Italy and we want to apply for "permesso di soggiorno" for him (for the first time). I would very much appreciate if you can share your experience with me, i.e. with what type of visa did you apply at the "Questura", how long did you wait to get the appointment for the application, how long did you wait for the "permesso di soggiorno", did they send someone to your place to check?
