Fourth Annual Sustainability Conference (Minneapolis)

The 4th annual Sustainability Conference at Argosy University will be held on March 8 at the Eagan Community Center. The theme is Six imPossible Things and I think this is our program, yet. The morning session covers the topic of extreme weather and its impact on Minnesota. Craig Edwards from MPR and the National Weather Service will be among the speakers. In the second session, Wade Miller from Wenck Associates, and Deb Pangerl from Medtronic will talk about innovating for sustainability in an environment of no or scarce resources. Finally, at the noon session, three individuals who have made a difference will give us their stories: Linda Miller who created Civil Society, a non-profit focused on human trafficking in Minnesota; Scott Saehr from Smude Enterprises who will talk about the transformation of a traditional Minnesota family farm to a sustainable enterprise; and Akinyi Menya Williams who created a global non-profit while a student at the University of Minnesota. Each story is an inspiration, but I think Linda Miller has a compelling tale as underage trafficking is up in Minnesota, drawn to North and South Dakota by the booming oil extraction going on there.
