From South Africa to Minnesota? (Minneapolis)

Hi everyone, we are an Italian couple working in South Africa for the last 4 years. We have also lived in New York state for few years. I have been offered a manager job by Cargill and we are now deciding what to do. Besides the cold and the snow we don't know much about the Minneapolis area in terms of living. I realize that nobody can give unbiased opinions but some impressions on the area would be really appreciated, especially by the ones who know South Africa life (we live in Stellenbosch, WC).
