Hairdresser Help (Mombasa)

A little advice needed....

I've got a friend out in Mombasa just now who needs a hairdresser. Last time she went she had really long gorgeous hair, she went to a hairdresser and asked for a few inches off, which the ladies at the hairdresser completely understood but then suddenly 4 of them were round her and cut a heap of it off. Left her with a short bob. She was heartbroken about it so is terrified to go to another shop. She was told they probably did this so that they could sell her hair? Do any of you know a western style hairdresser who is experienced with europeans?
